Montalvina Celebrates Blessing of the Vines

Published Jun 22, 2007

Montalvina Winery and Estates held a traditional Blessing of the Vines on Saturday, June 16, to celebrate the planting of its 20-acre vineyard in North Georgia.

The event was well attended by Montalvina home buyers and friends, along with Lumpkin County Commissioners Chairman Stephen Gooch, media representatives and members of the development team.  Officiating was Father Troy Beecham, who is a family member of Montalvina development partners Beecham Builders.

Montalvina Winery & Estates is a Tuscan style community and winery under development on 400 rolling acres of mountainside property in Dahlonega, bordered by the Chattahoochee National Forrest and the bank of the Etowah River.

The traditional blessing of the vines, or Benedizione di Vite, is a ceremonial prayer for a bountiful vineyard.  It’s also a festive occasion.  Food was catered by Dahlonega Square eatery Crimson Moon Café, and guests sampled a variety of North Georgia wines.

When completed, Montalvina will include 95 estate homes plus 200 villa homes and cottages, built in the style of Tuscany; a vineyard and winery; spa facilities, parks, nature trails and recreational amenities. For more information visit: www.montalvina.com.
