Dawsonville's own Kangaroo Conservation Center is featured in the August 2007 issue of Smithsonian Magazine and at http://www.smithsonianmag.com/multimedia/video/07aug_kangaroo.php. Be sure to click on this link and view the 'video story' on Smithsonian.com and learn what the word 'kangaroo' really means.
The Kangaroo Conservation Center is dedicated to the preservation of kangaroo species thru captive breeding and public education. Currently exhibiting over 300 kangaroos of eight species, the Center has successfully bred and cared for over a dozen different species of marsupials in the past 23 years. All are invited to visit and enjoy the unique wildlife educational adventure the Center offer, and learn how to propertly toss a boomerang while you're 'down under in North Georgia.'
