Southern Catholic College has announced the election of James Eckstein, a successful Financial Services and Technology entrepreneur, to its Board of Trustees, expanding the board to 21.

Eckstein currently serves as managing partner of MCAP Partners, a Private Equity Fund. In this role, he serves as an advisor and investor in several small to mid-size technology firms. He also is a Major Gifts Officer for Marist School, a Catholic high school in Atlanta.

With more than 25 years of management experience in the technology sector, he was founder and held executive roles in four highly successful companies in the Financial Services and Technology industries.

Earlier, he founded Visionary Systems, Inc., a company which grew to number fifteen on the INC 500® Fastest Growing Privately Held Companies list (2002) prior to selling it in 2004 to a leading credit reporting agency.

In 1997, Eckstein founded Worthknowing.com, the first Internet site to deliver free credit reports to consumers on-line, which he later sold to a top ten credit card issuer.

He serves as a board member of Atlanta-based L2C Inc., a privately held Analytics firm which specializes in risk evaluation products for underserved credit markets, and for the local Atlanta chapter of Lumen. He has served on both the Christ the King School Board, as well as the Cathedral of Christ the King Parish Council in Atlanta. He is currently a member of the Cathedral Fund Committee at that Parish and previously has volunteered at Christ the King School as interim director of Development. His volunteer work there culminated with the successful funding and hiring of a full-time director of Development for the school in February 2007.

Its an honor to serve as a member of such an impressive Board of Trustees, said Eckstein. I look forward to contributing my expertise in the area of business development to Southern Catholic College and advancing their noble and valuable mission for the Catholic faithful and for society -- educating young adults as moral leaders.

We are honored to have such a prominent entrepreneur and leading expert in the Financial Services and Technology area, said Jeremiah J. Ashcroft, Ph.D., president of Southern Catholic College. His expertise in business development and successful track record in fund raising in the Catholic community will be invaluable assets for Southern Catholic College.
