Together for Life Memorial Service and Walk, Georgia’s largest annual pro-life gathering, will be held Tuesday, January 22, 2008 on the steps of the Georgia Capitol in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Memorial Service, sponsored by Georgia Right to Life, begins at 11:30 a.m. and is followed by a one-mile long silent walk through downtown Atlanta.

This year’s keynote speaker is Gary Bauer, President of American Values. “We must build an America where all of our children rich and poor, black and white, are welcomed into the world and protected by law,” said Bauer.

In addition, presidential hopeful, Mike Huckabee, who has been endorsed by Georgia Right to Life PAC, will speak. Atlanta Archbishop Wilton Gregory, who is a beacon of life to the pro-life community in Georgia, will also speak. Archbishop Gregory has written extensively on euthanasia and assisted suicide.

Together for Life (TFL), commemorating the 35th anniversary of the infamous Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton Supreme Court decisions that legalized abortion on demand through all nine months of pregnancy, usually draws over 5,000 Georgians annually.

“This is an opportunity for pro-life Georgians to come together to mourn the deaths of approximately 48 million babies who have died in the past 35 years,” states Georgia Right to Life President Dan Becker. “We also want to appeal to our lawmakers this year to pass the Human Life Amendment, (www.personhood.net) so that the people of Georgia will be able to vote to make Georgia a pro-life state.”

According to the Alan Guttmacher Institute, 92% of abortions are for reasons of convenience and birth control. Over 31,000 abortions are performed annually in Georgia.
