Published Jan 7, 2008

Lt. Governor Casey Cagle announced today that Dr. Nelson Price, Interim Pastor of First Baptist Church of Mableton, will serve as the Chaplain of the Day for the first day of session in the State Senate, January 14, 2008.

“It will be an honor to welcome Dr. Price to the Senate next week. Many of us have heard him speak on the radio and I am certain he will encourage and strengthen our effort to lead our state in the right direction. The tradition of the Senate to start each day with a devotional and prayer sets our mind and heart toward things that matter as we make important policy decisions that affect the lives of Georgians,” Lt. Governor Casey Cagle said.

Dr. Nelson Price is currently Interim Pastor of First Baptist Church of Mableton and Pastor Emeritus of Roswell Street Baptist Church, Marietta. The author of sixteen books, Dr. Price also serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Shorter College. He has served in various Southern Baptist Convention Offices, including First Vice President and is a graduate of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Dr. Price has been an active community leader for years and has been writing a weekly newspaper column for the Marietta Daily Journal since 1966.
