Georgia Christian Coalition Surveys Active GOP Members on Immigration

Published May 29, 2007

With the debate on immigration taking center stage in national and State politics, the Georgia Christian Coalition announced that it has conducted a statewide survey of active GOP members on this issue.

At the center of this debate is the proposed “Border Security and Immigration Reform Act of 2007” currently under discussion by the U.S. Senate. With what many Americans feel amounts to amnesty for the nearly 12 million illegal immigrants currently in the United States, this bill has generated opposition from both conservatives and liberals; by later for its convoluted path to citizenship for immigrants who have broken the law and by the former for its tightening of border security and its failure to provide full citizenship to illegal immigrants.

In the Christian Coalition survey, respondents were asked - based on what they already knew of the proposal – whether or not they believed that the bill amounted to amnesty.  Out of a total of 130 respondents, 81% percent believed the proposal amounted to amnesty, while 19% percent believed it did not.

“What seemed to be a central concern among those who opposed the bill was a perceived lack of respect for the rule of law by rewarding people with citizenship who had immigrated illegally,” said Georgia Christian Coalition President Jim Beck.  GCC According to GCC Political Director Adam Woodward, “The poll was conducted over a three day period beginning Wednesday, May 23 and ending Friday May 25.  The survey has a margin of error of +/- 3.  We believe that this information will prove useful to Georgia’s lawmakers as they return to their constituents for the Memorial Day recess.”

Of course this is an amnesty bill. Any bill that allows unknown millions of aliens to get immediate probabtionary legal status is an amnesty. Most of the illegals do not care about becoming citizens if they can get immediate legalization that includes the ability to work and a social security number. Besides, they will continue to produce large numbers of anchor babies, US citizens all, while consuming vast amounts of public resources. Anyone who supports this bill is contributing to the demise of America.

WHY DO YOU ALL THINK YOU ARE BETTER THAN ANY OTHER OF ALMIGHTY S CHILDREN? ALMIGHTY DOSE NOT MAKE "ILLEGAL" HUMANS, ITS ALL IN THE DARK MINDS OF HUMANS.

The Senate bill has come under partisan attack even before the House of Representatives can propose its version.

Lawmakers “should all look back on their history,” said Mr. Bloomberg, a small American flag draped on his lectern as he spoke to reporters, “and realize that if we had had the laws that they are proposing in many cases, they wouldn’t be here because their parents or grandparents would not have been here.”

dear 'Caring Human'--

WHY 'DOSE' YOU ALL THINK YOU ARE BETTER THAN THE 81% PERCENT OF SURVEY RESPONDENTS WHO DON'T APPROVE OF THE ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION PROPOSAL IN ITS CURRENT FORM? THEY ARE HUMAN BEINGS TOO and not satisfied with irrelevant platitudes such as "no human is illegal"! Of all the worthless slogans ever chosen by one side of a political debate, that one has got to be the most inane.

REMEMBER from a Christian perspective, that illegal immigration from Mexico is motivated BY GREED -- NOT need.

There is no natural disaster in Mexico.

There is no civil war in Mexico.

There is no drought in Mexico.

There is NO REASON for Mexicans to break the law and enter the United States.

As Christians, we should help those who are in trouble.

WE SHOULD NOT HELP THOSE WHO BREAK THE LAW FOR GREED.

Christians should support refugee status for victims of the civil war in the Sudan / Darfur.

Christians SHOULD NOT support illegal immigration from Mexico purely for GREED.

The Christian thing to do is to encourage Mexicans to stay in Mexico AND make Mexico a better place.

As Christians, we must care about ALL -- 100% -- of Mexicans.

That means that FIXING MEXICO must be what CHristians care about... not helping a FEW of them break our laws.
