Dawson County’s Sesquicentennial Calendar of Events

Make plans now to continue the celebration of Dawson County's 150th year with these exciting 2007 events

May 19th: The Dawson Community Chorale, under the direction of Stan Lovell, will hold their spring concert at 7:30 PM at the First Baptist Church. The concert will include Broadway, Gospel, Folk, and Patriotic tunes.  Concert is free, with donations appreciated.  The Dawson Community Chorale is sponsored by The Dawson Arts Council. 

June 23rd, Dawson County Women’s ClubGarage Sale-abration fundraiser for playground equipment at Rock Creek Park and the Wee Read program, which provides books to children from birth to age five. September 11th, The Community Picnic at Amicalola Falls State Park sponsored by Dawson County Chamber of Commerce and Chamber members. Call 706-265-6278 for more info.  Free food, fun and entertainment.  4-7 pm 

September: Sesquicentennial Time Capsule will be sealed. Date to be confirmed. Contact 706-265-6278 for more info. 

Sept. 7-28th, Heart in Hand Quilt Guild Exhibit at the Bowen Center for the Arts. Call 706-216-2787 for more info.   

Oct. 1-31st , Atlanta Celebrates Photography Exhibit at the Bowen Center for the Arts.

October 7th, Dawson County Arts Council presents, “Evening with the DeKalb Symphony to be held at Gold Creek Golf Club.

October, Dawson County High School Chamber Singers, “ Concert & Desert Night Celebrating 150 Years of Dawson County”  

October 28-29th, 40th Annual Mountain Moonshine Festival

October 27th "Dawson County Elementary Schools "What I love about Dawson County Poster Contest" to be held at the 40th Annual Mountain Moonshine Festival"
