Southern Catholic College, a regional private Catholic college, today announced Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory of Atlanta has appointed Father Brian J. Higgins as chaplain at the College.
Father Higgins also will serve as parochial vicar at Christ Redeemer Church in Dawsonville. He had been serving as director of vocations for the Archdiocese of Atlanta and previously was parochial vicar at the Cathedral of Christ the King.
A native of Kansas City, Mo., Father Higgins was ordained to the priesthood in 1999. He holds a bachelor's degree in English and Secondary Education from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan. He also has master of divinity degree from Mount St. Mary's Seminary in Emmitsburg, Md.
"I am excited and proud to serve as chaplain of a college that is dedicated to nurturing Christ-centered young adults, as well as educating them into the ethical leaders of the future," said Father Higgins. "This is a very noble and critical mission that will positively impact society."
