We are headed for Matlacha, Florida for a vacation of trout fishing, eating seafood and lots of cold white wine to go with our bountiful seafood feasts. I will have to skip next week's report, but when we return, I will have detailed reports as to which wines went best with which fish or shellfish, whether at home, or at any of the area's fabulous restaurants!

Speaking of seafood, I have a great wine to reccomend to you, which will pair well with almost any seafood dish. For several years now the Veramonte Sauvignon Blanc from Chile has consistently scored from the high 80's to the low 90's. The 2009 Veramonte Sauvignon Blanc received an 89 score from the "Wine Advocate", and an 88 from "Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar". Wines which regularly score in the 90 point range, for less than ten dollars per bottle, are not that easy to find! As I said, this one is great with a variety of seafood dishes. "The Wine Advocate" stated that this Sauvignon Blanc, "reveals an enticing nose of fresh cut grass, mineral, and citrus. Vibrant, ripe, and intense, it has excellent balance and length."

Sounds perfect for that Shrimp and Crab Fettuccine Alfredo, with a Ceasar Salad and warm French Bread!
