Special Reading of “Simply American; A Gentle Warrior & His People” Announced

Published Oct 16, 2008

The Veterans Affairs of Dawson County and the Dawson County Chamber of Commerce invite you to attend the reading of Simply American; A Gentle Warrior & His People, written by Dawson County residents, Lucy and Rick Harris. Listen to the love and commitment of one of our heroes, 1st Lt. Noah Harris, as he grows from a child to a man of conviction and purpose. His parents will read from their book about their only precious son who was killed in action on June 18, 2005.

The reading will take place on October 27, at the Dawson County Library on Allen Street from 12:00 pm until 1:30 pm. The public is invited to attend. There is no admission fee.

Lucy and Rick Harris are self-publishing the book and one hundred percent of the proceeds from the $15 donation will go to the Noah Fund, which is used to help students and military personnel fulfill their dreams. Books will be available for purchase at the reading.

“I want everyone to know our precious Noah. I want them to know the child that became a man and a hero who left us way too soon. I want them to know the ways of a simple life that gave measure to a young man, and the parents that taught him the meaning of love and sacrifice. I want everyone to read his book over and over until they understand how they can be a better person by knowing Noah. I want them to take that knowledge and in turn make the world a better place by giving and expecting nothing in return. I want them to practice the lessons of Noah.”

I would like to purchase a copy of the Harris' book. As a mother and daughter of veterans I work to promote awareness of veteran's sacrifices and one's duty to country.
