A Season for Reaching Out

Celebrate the season with The Church @ War Hill, where community outreach and special celebrations are planned...

With so many reasons to celebrate, the holidays tend to bring out the best in most people, but for those who are struggling area churches are preparing to reach out to help fill both the spiritual and physical needs of the community. One such church is The Church @ War Hill. Pastor Don Allen says War Hill’s Community Outreach feeds 8,000 people a year supported by help from the church’s 600 active members and community donations.

The Church @ War Hill, a non-denominational church with a mission “to be solid in a fluid world,” has grown from its inception by six founding members to a large community church and a fully accredited K-12 school. Pastor Allen has led the church for the last 17 years and wants everyone to feel welcome there. “We don’t care how you worship, we want people to be free to worship in a casual, comfortable manner,” he says.

Though The Church @ War Hill’s Community Outreach program is one way the church and community come together in a giving spirit, War Hill also enjoys giving back to the community that supports them. On December 21, The Church @ War Hill will present “The Way in the Manger,” the story of Christmas told through live animals. The story will be presented at 9:15 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.
