Pennsylvania-based CKPcreative today announced the beta release of twittwo – a Twitter alternative with a difference.
"Twitter messages can be up to 140 characters long, but all twittwo messages are just two characters," said Craig Peters, President of CKPcreative, which developed twittwo. "Rather than being limiting, though, the two-character message is actually very liberating. We've seen an incredible level of creativity and inventiveness throughout the twittwo community."
The inspiration for twittwo came after Peters spent more than a year communicating on Twitter under several alter egos. "I wasn't pleased with the signal-to-noise ratio I experienced there," Peters said. "It occurred to me that less could be more – and twittwo was born.
"Frankly, there's some additional work to be done on the back end of the system," Peters confessed, "but we pushed the beta version out to the public so we could make the announcement today – after all, what better day to announce twittwo than 2/2?! I hope everyone comes and gives us a try!"
