According to industry sources, eWeek.com and others, the latest strain of what's known as the "Sober Virus" that was let loose on the Internet in late November 2005 is making a come-back. It has recently been discovered that this virus has built into it the functionality to relaunch a massive new attack on January 5, 2006. This will be accomplished by computers that are known as "Zombies." Zombies are business and personal computers that are infected but do not show any signs of infection.
On Thursday, January 5th, these Zombies will "awaken" and begin the new spread of the virus -- as early as midnight.
Everyone who owns a computer -- business or personal -- is a potential target for these types of viruses and should make sure antivirus software is working and up to date. If you do not have Antivirus software installed on your system, here is a link to a free scan that you may wish to check out:
