As ABC-TV announced their new celebrity line-up this week for a new season of the popular reality series, "Dancing with the Stars," one local professional ballroom dance instructor is putting the finishing touches on his new Forsyth County ballroom dance studio where local residents can learn to waltz, rumba, salsa or cha cha the night away.
New Life Ballroom Dance Studio, located at 5860 Gateway Drive in Alpharetta, will host a free community Grand Opening Special Event on Saturday, March 7, 2009 from noon to 6pm and again from 6:30 - 11:30 pm. Each hour -- at 10 minutes past -- grand opening guests can participate in free dance classes lasting from 30 to 35 minutes, followed by a short dance presentation, general dancing, food vendors and a host of great prizes.
New Life Ballroom Dance Studio is owned and operated by Alpharetta resident, Bobby Hahm, a professionally trained ballroom dancer and dance instructor, NAHF certified personal trainer and fire fighter with the Cherokee County EMS. After years of touring as part of a live professional ballroom performance troupe, Hahm wanted to find a way to share his love of ballroom dancing with the local community. When the opportunity came to open his own dance studio, it was an easy decision for him to turn his dream into a reality.
"Dancing is my passion," Hahm explains. "This studio is a perfect venue where people at every level of instruction -- from beginners to more accomplished students -- can learn the fundamentals of dance and how dancing can become an integral part of their lives. Dancing is a great way for anyone who needs to de-stress, incorporate a new physical activity, reconnect with family and loved ones, meet new friends or hone their dance skills for a special occasion like a wedding, reunion, Cotillion ball or just heat up the dance floor at a great party."
Hahm says that in addition to weekly group dance classes, his studio also will offer private lessons, Cotillion dance instruction and corporate events. Classes will be held daily from 7pm to 10 pm. Rates and a full dance studio class schedule will be available at the Grand Opening Event on March 7, 2009.
"History has shown that at every age and in every society, communities really come together through socially expressive outlets like music, dance and festivals," Hahm says. "We look forward to the community joining us Saturday, March 7 as we unveil the area's newest community ballroom dance studio and teach area residents how they too can explore how we can help them unlock their inner dancer."
