Southern Catholic College Appoints Another To Board of Trustees

Southern Catholic College, a regional private Catholic college, today announced the appointment of Richard M. Stormont to its Board of Trustees, expanding the board to 19.

Currently, Stormont serves as principal of The Stormont Companies, LLC, which provides leadership services to many boards of not-for-profit organizations where he serves as a board member. He has held a storied and highly successful career in the hospitality industry. In his 22 years of service at Marriott Corp., Stormont was involved in the development, operation and financing of all types of hotels, conference centers and resorts throughout the U.S. Later, he formed The Stormont Companies, which evolved into other successor companies that provided a full range of development and asset management services.

Stormont has served the Atlanta community in a number of leadership positions which include: chairman of the Tourism Division for the Georgia Department of Industry, Trade and Tourism; director and regional vice president of Cornell Society of Hotelmen and president of the Georgia Chapter; director, president and founder of the Georgia Hospitality and Travel Association; and member of the Executive Committee of the American Hotel and Motel Association. He also serves on the Board of Directors for the Atlanta Rotary Club, and will assume the Presidency July 2007. He has been recognized by Cornell University School of Hotel Administration as the 2006 Southeastern Hotelier of the Year and was inducted as a member of the Atlanta Hospitality Hall of Fame, which is co-sponsored by the Atlanta Business Chronicle and the Atlanta Convention and Visitors Bureau.

He currently serves on a number of boards such as chairman-elect of the Board of Trustees of Lenbrook Square Foundation and past chairman of the Atlanta St. Patricks Foundation. He is a graduate of Cornell Universitys School of Hotel Administration.
