Dawson County Manager Ross Hubbard announced County Engineer David Headley has accepted the position of Director of Public Works/County Engineer effective February 1, 2008.
The new position combines the duties and responsibilities of Headley’s current role as County Engineer, along with those of Director of Public Works.
David Headley brings over 25 years of engineering experience to the position. Named 2007 Dawson County Employee of the Year by the Dawson County Rotary Club, Headley was instrumental in the development and completion of the Dawson County Law Enforcement Center.
“David is the right choice for this position,” stated County Manager Ross Hubbard. “He recognizes the diverse needs of a community in transition and brings the vision, experience and knowledge to help move us forward.”
Headley looks forward to the union of the departments. “The merging of Engineering Services and Public Works will provide a more efficient and effective service to the public. This action will streamline the current process and provide the public with a higher degree of service.”
Headley continued, “Joining these two departments does not come as a surprise due to the progressive and forward thinking of the Board. I will serve the County honorably and continue to propel Engineering and Public Works to a higher level of which we all can be proud.”
“I want to thank the Board of Commissioners and the county manager for entrusting me with the opportunity to serve the citizens of Dawson County as the Public Works Director,” stated Headley.
This change comes following the resignation of John Laux who served as director of Public Works from August, 2007.
