Dawson County, in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and many Local Businesses are embarking on a County-wide “Shop Local” Program.  This program is part of the Entrepreneur Friendly designation received from the Governor’s Office earlier this year.  As the holiday season approaches, we are challenging our citizens to “Shop Local."  You may be surprised by what is available within the county for gift-giving, as well as everyday items.  In Dawson, local shopping is dominated by local entrepreneurs, and complemented by national retailers.  This combination of local and chain outlets contribute valuable diversity to our economy.

Shopping locally has a direct tax advantage  - For each $1 in retail items purchased in Dawson County $.03 is directly contributed to the County SPLOST, ELOST and LOST, thus directly reducing the property tax burden born by our citizens.
